Losing your virginity

 Content Editor

Think all your mates are doing it? Don't be so sure. It's a fact that many people under the age of 16 years say they've had sex when they haven't – just so that they look good, and many people wait until they are 16 years or older.

No matter what anyone says, doing it for the first time – or doing it for the first time with a new partner is a big thing.

So you need to think about it very carefully. Have a look at some of these questions to figure out how you feel about having sex

  • Do you really feel ready to have sex?
  • Have you thought about what could happen?
  • Are you having sex just because you think everyone else is doing it and you don't want to be left behind?
  • Are you having sex just because you think your partner wants / expects you to?
  • Are you having sex as a way to get friends or to stop feeling lonely?
  • Will you have regrets?

Remember happy and successful relationships are based on understanding of yourself, your partner and how you relate and no-one should feel pressured into having sex or doing anything you don't want to do.
